The Sony World Photography Awards, one of the highly-acclaimed events among amateurs and professional photographers alike, has just recently announced their shortlist for this year’s awarding ceremony. The world’s largest photography competition has been giving prestige to photographers for 10 years.
More than 277,000 images from 183 countries were submitted and received by the organizers and, as expected, all of them were thought-provoking and stunning in their own unique way. However, only 33 photographs, the best of the lot, have been shortlisted for the final phase of the photography contest. The contest has 4 different competitions including Professional, Open, Youth, and Student Focus – each having 10 categories and their own set of guidelines for contestants to follow. But entries submitted to the Open category will automatically be included in the National Awards.

The winners of the Sony World Photography Awards will be announced on April 20 at the Somerset House in London. Here are some of the submissions that were included in this year’s shortlist.
