Take a look at the Japanese factory where manhole cover designs are made!

After World War II, urban planners in Japan began allowing each municipality to design their own manhole covers.

This was done in an attempt to raise awareness for the country’s expensive sewage projects. And now, over 19,000 manhole designs can be found across Japan. John Daub, of ONLY in Japan fame, paid a visit to the Nagashima Imono Casting Factory, where many of the manhole cover designs are made. He even got involved in the annual Manhole Summit which began in 2014. Oh and there’s a look at some sweet decks of Japanese Manhole Trading Cards as well! Check it out!
