The Tech Museum of Innovation announced today that Ted Turner — the visionary and entrepreneur who revolutionized the telecommunications industry, founded CNN and the United Nations Foundation and serves as Chairman of The Turner Foundation — has been named the eleventh recipient of the James C. Morgan Global Humanitarian Award. Sponsored by Applied Materials, Inc., this award honors individuals whose broad vision and leadership address humanity’s greatest challenges.
Turner will accept the award in Silicon Valley at the San Jose Convention Center on Thursday, November 13, 2014, during The Tech Awards gala, presented by Applied Materials. More than 1,400 esteemed innovators in the technology industry gather every year at the formal charity event to celebrate the power of technology to address global challenges and benefit humanity. The gala also recognizes 10 laureates — technologists, educators, scientists and entrepreneurs — who are using technology to improve our world.
