Experiment with new ways of looking and making photos on LACMA’s campus. We will also be learning from the work of incredible artists found in LACMA’s collection such as Sally Mann, Edward Weston, Laura Aguilar, and Barbara Kasten. With artist Fernando Isai Garcia.

Fernando Garcia (they/them/he) is an artist and art educator based in Los Angeles, ancestral and unceded territory of the Gabrielino/Tongva peoples and the Fernandeño Tataviam Band of Mission Indians. Fernando is an immigrant to these lands from the Zapotec Community of the Sierra Norte region of Oaxaca Mexico. Fernando has been a student of photography for almost 20 years, and their work has since expanded to include performance, painting, and the written word. Amongst their most recent projects is Nosotrés Polaroids, environmental portraits of those in and around Fernando’s communities, always making two portraits, one for those in the photograph and one for the new community of photographs being created with this project.
In accordance with the City of Los Angeles vaccination ordinance, beginning Monday, November 8, 2021, all ticketed LACMA visitors ages 12+ are required to show proof of COVID-19 vaccination. Those with medical or religious exemptions may present a negative COVID-19 test taken within 72 hours. A valid photo ID is also required for visitors ages 18+. Pre-registration is required for all classes. Enrollment for summer Art Camp begins on April 13, 2022, at 10 am PST.
