The Art Timothée Chalamet bought for his LA Nest.

Timothée Chalamet‘s art collection is, at no surprise, the epitome of cool. And the fact he chose to buy original pieces from local independent artists to fill his new home is even cooler in our opinion.

The collection of work he invested in at The Other Art Fair Los Angeles this Spring is a reflection of his unique personality and style, which has made him a treasured figure in Hollywood and beyond. It’s fair to say he’s got an eye for the avant-garde and isn’t afraid to take risks – something we can relate to.

Here’s the low-down on the work hanging on his walls as we speak…

A Series of Sculptures by Sasi Kladpetch

San Francisco-based artist Sasi Kladpetch marries the urban and the natural in her mixed-media sculptures. The delicate craftsmanship that weaves the raw earthy materials such as moss and soil amongst the man-made constructional materials including concrete and plaster is definitely one for the curious. Timothée took time to carefully select six pieces from the series that spoke to him the most. Sasi, and her much-loved assistant (a parrot called Mossy), is a must-watch for those who love to bring the outside, inside.

Drawing by Mark Rebennack

Mark Rebennack is in the art of breath work. Each freehand line on the surface is conducted for the length of one exhalation and mimics the line before it. Any imperfections (or bumps) are then exaggerated to create wave-like breaks in the pattern. It’s soothing to even talk about it, so imagine the work hanging on your mantelpiece or in the bedroom for a note of serenity. Chalamet selected a deep blue piece by Mark, with gold ink waves.

Photography by Christine So

Photography but without the camera. With this selection, Timothée has invested in an artist who is truly passionate about bringing a modern take to a traditional technique. Christine So’s monochromatic cyanotypes are a reflection of her home and studio space, nestled in the northern Californian woods.

If there’s anything to show from Timothée’s choices, it’s that he loves bringing a taste of nature into his home. His choices, selected alongside Interior Designer Nicole Gordon, demonstrate that the next Jeff Koons might be more accessible than you think with a visit to our next fair.
