The big glass pyramid at Musée du Louvre in Paris vanished (temporarily)

The big glass pyramid outside Musée du Louvre in Paris just disappeared. Or at least as appeared to disappear.

French street artist JR, as part of a public art project called “JR au Louvre”, covered the glass pyramid with a large skewed panoramic photograph of surrounding buildings. This marvellously camouflaged the structure giving the optical illusion of it vanishing. The artist is renowned for large-scale public flypostings of black and white photographs of people’s faces.

Check out the illusory work below, and find some work-in-progress photos on JR’s Instagram.
