The Bridge Desk Was Inspired by Porto, the City of Bridges

French–Portuguese designer Christophe de Sousa looked to the “City of Bridges,” Porto, Portugal, for inspiration when designing his latest piece of furniture. The Bridge desk is made from oak or walnut with copper metal arcs that span the legs, much like the structures you’d find on the bridges in Porto. The finished product features smooth, rounded surfaces and an overall minimalist aesthetic with a story behind it.

The AD Challenge invited 15 Portuguese and international designers to submit a proposal of their design, which needed to connect a person with their work or hobby and to be made from wood. The Associative Design (AD) then presented the final designs, including the Bridge desk, as part of ‘The Best of Portugal’ exhibition at this year’s Stockholm Furniture & Light Fair.
