Crystallization is when solids form from a liquid by organizing molecules into a predetermined structure. That by itself is mind-blowing, but when you use certain chemicals to start with, the colors and motion can be stunningly beautiful. German photographer Jens Heidler brings us a time-lapse video of the crystallization process of a mixture of vitamin C and the amino acid beta analin, along with water and alcohol. He varied the proportions of the ingredients and the temperature to get different sequences. Heidler lists the gear he used at the YouTube page.
