‘The Disappearing Face of New York’ documents storefronts then-and-now

A decade ago, James and Karla Murray published a book of photographs titled ‘Store Front: The Disappearing Face of New York’ that chronicled NYC’s vanishing small shop culture. Now, the duo have released a supplement called ‘Store Front: The Disappearing Face of New York – 10 Years Later.’

The Murray’s book places the old photos beside the new image of the same location for comparison. In most cases, the bars, shops and restaurants have been overrun by generic fast food joints, banks and rental properties – kinda sad.
