The Drone Photo Awards Have Announced Their Winners Of 2022, And Here Are The 70 Best Photos

Siena Awards just announced the winners of the Drone Photo Awards 2022. For his shot of a fissure that was captured just a few hundred meters from the main crater of the Fagradalsfjall volcano in Iceland, French photographer Armand Sarlangue has been chosen the overall winner of the competition.

The judges chose Armand’s winning photo from among thousands of entries; this year, 2,624 participants from 116 nations entered the well-known worldwide drone photography contest. The annual Drone Photo Awards is a testament to the greatest camera drones, which are capable of taking beautiful pictures on their own, but the sheer diversity of this year’s winning and praised photos demonstrates just how far drone technology has come in the recent years.

#1 Photo Of The Year, Big Bang By Armand Sarlangue

In the picture, a secondary fissure happening a few hundreds meters from the main crater of Fagradalsfjall volcano, during the very last eruptive phase. It was captured as a storm was hitting west Iceland, with rain and strong winds. Due to the difficult conditions, a drone capture like this is unique.

Overlooking the unicorn hollow dome from the air. From above, the triangular shapes and the curvy lines create a geometrical and fascinating pattern. The viewer’s eye gets lost in the movement of the image, as it was an optical illusion. The picture was taken at Unicorn Island, Chengdu, Sichuan China.

After the bridal party shoot was all done and dusted, the photographer added something a little different to the gallery. Initially wanting to toss the groom up but decided it would be more fun to do it with the bride this time. And so here is the flying bride portrayed with the party guests and then framed by a field of autumn leaves.

At the Drill & Chill festival highliners rigged multiple lines running across the canyon spanning several hundred meters long. As one of the lines was going opposite off the road and river running parallel below, it made a fantastic composition. The french highliner Benoit is lying down on the line, helping the photographer with his shot.

#70 Category: Wildlife, Commended, Lost At Sea By Shah Paran

44 feet long and 26 feet wide giant dead whale has washed up on the Cox’s Bazar beach, drawing crowds of curious onlookers. From above the animal looks pretty small compared to the enormity of the ocean, though the people look even smaller.
