Weltevree founder, Floris Schoonderbeek, has created a subterranean refrigerator.
The Groundfridge is Weltevree’s take on a root cellar. The fridge is designed for people who live in self-sustainable manners, like those who have their own vegetable garden. The fridge is able to be put in sans permits, and without disposing of soil it displaces. The fridge also does not use energy and has the volume of twenty refrigerators, and fridge temperature is largely dictated by the soil and ground water temperature.

The product has been looked into for purchase as a wine cellar and also as hurricane shelters. The fridge also won a Dutch Design Award in Milan last Spring.
