The Argentinian Pavilion of this year’s Venice Biennale played host to a giant white horse suspended in mid-air.
The large sculptural piece by artist Claudia Fontes, called “The Horse Problem,” features 400 white rocks surrounding the figure, was inspired by 19th-century icons that Argentina was falsely based on. “The Horse Problem offers in a flash, a way to reinterpret history in a different way, a chance to construct an alternative narrative for our future as species,” writes Gabriel Giorgi in an essay about the work.
