The Tara lamp is “an intricate balancing act with an exciting trick up its sleeve,” writes Hamburg-based furniture designer Matteo Bauer-Bornemann, who collaborated on the lamp with lighting designer Simon Schmitz. “We designed a telescopic mechanism that keeps its balance at any given moment. The head extends and the counterweight travels in the opposite direction, keeping the point of mass dead center.”
