At first glance outside, you’ll already take notice of the M89 Hotel because of its unique rooftop structure. Taking a step back, you’ll see that this design is actually a reinterpretation of the factory halls that the hotel faces. These historic buildings originally hosted Caproni, one of the leading Italian aviation companies, and now is home to Gucci (also renovated by Piuarch). The notch in the rooftop makes room for the hotel’s terrace + restaurant, framed by floor-to-ceiling glass windows and expansive views of the Milan skyline.

Inside, the hotel has a mostly minimalist character with a simple color palette of anthrax grey, white and green as well as a mix of 1950s and contemporary furniture. While the public areas have a moody feel, the interiors of the guest rooms are reversed with white walls and grey ceilings to add brightness to the private areas.

There are 50 guest rooms and 5 suites, with the latter having a more luxurious interior with oak parquet floors and walnut boiserie.

All in all, the M89 is a simple hotel with minimalist interiors inside an architectural building, a comfortable stay away from home in the heart of Milan.
