Yes, the calendar is just a system for counting days, which has nothing much to do with the natural world, but it’s a system we’ve used for a long time. That gives us an excuse to celebrate the way the numbers line up on certain dates. Today is special because it’s Groundhog Day, Super Bowl Sunday, and also a pure palindrome when you write the numbers out, no matter which side of the pond you are on.
