THE SHOPHOUSE by UNVEIL LIMITED in Tai Hang, Hong Kong

THE SHOPHOUSE is a new exhibition and social space dedicate to people who value quality of life in the quaint neighbourhood of Tai Hang. The Grade III listed pre-WWII ‘tong lau’ offers a total of 4000 square feet gallery space restored from original architectural and interior features, such as the “Shanghai plaster” exterior surface, wrought iron window décor to terrazzo floor finish, hearkening back to Hong Kong’s architectural legacy.

The five-storey restoration project is conceived by creative agency UNVEIL LIMITED with the vision of cultivating a bespoke lifestyle collective driven by art and culture through connecting unconventional talents. Selected collections and artworks by local and overseas makers are featured across the floors, with an artist studio perched at the rooftop garden.

THE SHOPHOUSE opens with three concurrent exhibitions: “Taste Of Cup” by British ceramist Steve Harrison withPostcard Teas London, a selection of archive pieces by Bulgarian fashion designer Kiko Kostadinov and British contemporary artist Ben Edmunds’ first solo exhibition ‘HAPPINESS™’ at the gallery floor. Ben Edmunds graduated from Royal College of Art in 2018 and did his first Asia solo show at Kaikai Kiki Gallery in Roppongi, Tokyo in 2019.
