The Stir It up Wireless Turntable Keeps It Simple and Sustainable

Over the last few years, the resurgence of vinyl collecting has also brought with it the return of affordable and solidly built turntables, vinyl playback gear treading that important ground of mid-tier priced and user-friendly solutions for the enthusiast. While dedicated and aspiring audiophiles will invest in discreet componentry, there is also a market for people seeking simplicity paired with good design – a turntable that just works, and works preferably with existing wired or wireless speakers. House of Marley’s latest turntable is such a solution.

Taking its name from the 1967 Bob Marley and the Wailers song of the same name, the House of Marley Stir It Up wireless turntable is aimed at the music lover looking to get into vinyl collecting minus the worries of purchasing extra componentry, a plug-and-play belt drive solution that can be used minus the plug altogether via Bluetooth speaker or headphone connectivity (there’s also the option to connect via RCA output if you prefer to stay wired).

Anti-skate control and the auto start/stop controls apply a small outward force to the tonearm, counteracting the tendency of the arm to skate toward the center and scratch records.

House of Marley takes extra effort to flex this eco-friendly bona fides with their solid bamboo plinth. Paired with the matte black fabric base and aluminum platter with complementary metal tonearm, the system communicates a warm mid-century modern design adaptable to almost any contemporary interior.

Most people will likely use this turntable wirelessly via Bluetooth, but we applaud the inclusion of a USB port for the option of recording connected to a computer. An internal amp can be turned off for use with an external pre-amp with a simple switch.

Additional environmentally conscious material chosen include post-consumer silicone scraps sourced REGRIND silicone, REWIND fabric comprised with a blend of 30% reclaimed organic cotton, 30% reclaimed hemp, and a mix of 40% recycled PET, recycled plastic, and recyclable aluminum throughout. The sum of these eco-materials give the entire turntable the appearance of some visual heft and lasting quality, though we’d personally prefer if the plinth+base was a tad less thick, perhaps in a 1:3 bamboo to base ratio.

Unlike some turntable models in this price category, House of Marley includes a legit Audio-Technica modular cartridge which seems wholly suited for the $250 turntable segment; an easy upgrade path is available when desired. The only real (minor) strike against the Stir It Up Wireless Turntable is the absence of a dustcover lid; a fabric cover is included instead.

A Bob Marley quote is engraved across the length of the tonearm as a nice extra detail.

If you’re looking for a turntable prioritizing the listening experience and that can connect to existing wireless Bluetooth speakers or headphones with fool-proof ease, the handsome House of Marley Stir It Up wireless turntable makes for a strong argument – a warmly realized design that blends into the home does indeed, sound good.
