The Tråd Chair, by Industrial Designer Gustav Carlberg

If you showed this chair to a brand-new ID student in their first History of Furniture Design class, you could tell them “This is a design classic” from 1970s Italy or 1980s Japan and they’d believe you.

Sadly, however, it never saw (mass) production. The Tråd chair was designed and fabricated last year for a Swedish design exhibition by Malmö-based industrial designer Gustav Carlberg.

The stackable chair is made from 11mm steel rod and 1.5mm-thick perforated steel sheet, both galvanized for outdoor use.

I think this is a case of, several manufacturers would happily produce this, if they knew it existed.
