The TWIG Chair From Skandiform Embodies “Scandinavian Sense”

During Stockholm Furniture Fair 2020, emerging designer Johannes Lindner presented the TWIG Chair, his first design for Scandinavian furniture manufacturer Skandiform. TWIG is a sleek wooden chair that aims to embrace opposites through merging traditional Scandinavian design with modern details – a design ethos Lindner and Skandiform call “Scandinavian Sense.” The chair gets its name from the horizontal dowel atop its backrest that resembles a twig.

TWIG offers an approachable yet elegant form that pushes the boundaries of traditional Scandinavian design. The chair features stark lines throughout that are countered with smooth, rounded edges. Its softly curved seat allows for multiple sitting positions while the striking T-shaped backrest provides comfortable elbow and back support.

During meetings or a coffee break, TWIG acts as an ideal coat rack thanks to the horizontal dowel, which is able to catch fabric and hold it in place. When not in use, the dowel can double as a handle for easy grip and placement.

TWIG’s versatile design makes it ideal for a wide range of environments, from offices to museums. Lindner says partnering with Skandiform – a leading furniture supplier of offices and public spaces – was an ideal fit based on a mutual appreciation for functional, timeless design. “The origin and impetus of the [collaboration] lies in the sense of the simple and the desire to design furniture that will last.”

TWIG is available in black and oak. Stained finish and upholstered seats are optional.
