When it comes to living spaces, we genuinely need to start taking inspiration from the homes we give our pets…or at least elements of them. It’s worked out well so far, for artists Alex Schweder and Ward Shelley. They live and work in a massive rotating hamster wheel.
Measuring 25-feet in diameter, the spinning wheel is called ‘In Orbit‘ and is yet another piece in the duo’s portfolio of installations where people can live together in public spaces. The house is positioned 30 feet off the floor to allow Shelley to live on the outer rim, while Schweder gets the interior due to his fear of heights.
