It is amazing to look at these portraits and comprehend that they were created by hand and not by a camera. Graphite artist Monica Lee works with such sensitivity in her drawings that her images almost appear more than real.
Lee is always striving to improve her photorealistic skills stating, “I like to challenge myself with complex portraits especially people with freckles or [a] beard.” She works from photographs and spends 3-4 weeks per drawing. Lee actually spent 12 years in the digital world before transitioning to physical-world art. You wouldn’t know it though, these stunning portraits are made with the skills of a seasoned master.
