Thin shelving that appears as wind-blown paper

The idea is taken from a 19th century woodblock print, Travelers Caught in a Gust Of Breeze in Ejiri, wherein a character’s wad of paper flew into the air.  With this romantic scene as inspiration the Japanese design studio YOY has created a charming shelving collection called ‘BLOW.’

Each piece is a molded from a thin sheet of steel in A4 letter size that appears as a real piece of paper. The steel sheets are twisted to create different plates in which the top or bottom can be used. When many pieces are combined, the shelving unit creates a dramatic scene of paper flowing in a gust of wind.

BLOW is available through Pianoprimo, a home furniture company in Italy.
