Designer Dave Hakkens has a radical approach to recycling. Rather than seeing plastic waste being sent to large scale recycling plants, or worse, polluting our planet and its waters, Hakkens has hacked a solution to create a small scale plastic recycling set-up. His machines let you transform waste into a raw material that can be used to make something new.
But rather than choosing to profit off of his ideas, he is giving it all away. The plans for the DIY recycling machines are downloadable from Precious Plastic, and the equipment can be made using simple parts that are easily found all over the world. Hakkens has posted collection of how-to videos on his YouTube channel, and hopes that the plans for the DIY recycling machines will continue to spread so that people across the globe can reuse their plastic — turning waste into a raw material.
