Tomatan: A Wearable Japanese Robot That Feeds You Tomatoes as You Run

For the Tokyo Marathon a few years ago, Japanese juice maker Kagome came up with a nifty promotional stunt: One of their lucky employees would run the race wearing Tomatan, a wearable robot they invented to feed tomatoes to the wearer while running.

Why tomatoes? “Tomatoes have lots of nutrition that combats fatigue,” Shigenori Suzuki, the Kagome host employee for Tomatan, told news organizations.

Listen beautiful relax classics on our Youtube channel.

Created by Japanese art collective Maywa Denki, Tomatan is admittedly not very practical:

“I will run by his side carrying my tools, just like an F1 mechanic,” said Nomichi Tosa of creator Meiwa Denki, admitting that “we focused mostly on its visual design.”
