Traditional beading technique finds unlikely place in modern fashion

The beaded artwork of the Huichol people of Mexico’s Sierra Madre Mountains is the inspiration for this unlikely footwear product. Ricardo Seco, a Mexican fashion designer, has reinterpreted this old-form craft and applied the technique to the unlikely product of New Balance athletic footwear. In his Fall/Winter collection shown at the New York Fashion Week, he debuted the footwear line that was produced in collaboration with the New Balance Company.
