The Tranquil House, a modern and minimalist home in Shiga, Japan by FORM/Kouichi Kimura Architects.
Situated in Shiga, Japan, the site is located near a highway. That’s why the architect Kouichi Kimura designed a house that provides a maximum of noise and privacy protection. “The recess of the symmetric façade composed of the volumes is made into the entrance. The thick and heavy wall positioned at the center adds more sense of depth.”
When entering the house, guests arrive directly in the spacious living area. This area is divided by seamless glass sidewalls, which enhance the spacious effect of this place. The interior concept aims for only a few timeless furnishings along with some decorative elements. They are combined with muted colors to complement the concrete tone of the walls.
