Photographer An-My Lê, who grew up in Saigon during the Vietnam War, describes her series Small Wars (1999–2002) and 29 Palms (2003–4). She discusses how contemporary landscape photography can be used to present more than just scenery; it can illuminate culture, architecture, and social and political issues that citizens are concerned with today.
