The line between art and furniture is blurred in Japanese design firm YOY’s amazing creation, the ‘canvas chair.’ In their words, it’s “a canvas shaped chair with a drawing of a chair.” One can either hang it on the wall as a piece of art, or use it as a chair by leaning it against the wall. There are three types of size: a stool, an armchair, and a sofa, with accompanying screenprints of the respective objects. The seemingly flat canvases are made from an elastic fabric that can sustain weight and bend back to its original form.
Like something straight out of “Through the Looking Glass”, the series commits to a very cool, minimalist concept and brings its absurdity to life. Check out more info about the chairs here.
