Watch a Skyscraper of Light Erupt from a Live Data Sculpture

A jumble of LED graphics move up and down the face of a giant glass installation, illuminating the open court of what looks like an indoor shopping mall or airplane terminal. This towering wall of light is a live data sculpture called iOTA. It was put together by Ouchh, the Istanbul based new media agency responsible for other video graphic projects like this facial tracking projection piece and this immersive light installationiOTA itself sculpture was inspired light physics and research looking the origin of geometry.

In the video’s description, Ouchhh writes, “Corresponding to the focus of the observer, the nature of light and its different phenomena can be seen beyond the perceptivity of the human mind and attempts to translate them into a unified, non-spatial form.” The title of the piece is in reference to a character used in mathematics to denote “the inclusion map of on space into another.” iOTA has a similar format to teamLab’s interactive LED sculpture at the CTBC Financial Park. Standing at the base of the installation, viewers are dwarfed by the sheer size of the artwork and are forced to move throughout the space in order to get a different perspective and experience of work.
