Photography and design are things we do professionally. We are no strangers to the magazine-styled engagement photography that seems to be the standard these days. But when we thought about taking that route, neither of us got excited. It was more of a “to-do” rather than a celebration of our engagement and a reflection of the excitement we felt towards starting life together. It wasn’t quite “us,” and we quickly came to realize that the “perfect” style of photography was missing the point. Instead, we chose to celebrate the raw FUN we have in our relationship.

Listen beautiful relax classics on our Youtube channel.

So when it came time to make our own announcement, awkward, kitchy, and creative were exciting themes that unhinged “the standard” and allowed our creative passions and teamwork to run. We are both inspired by the art direction of films like Napoleon Dynamite, Eagle vs. Shark, and find a lot of creative value in the age of “yuppies,” shoulder pads and synthesizer music.

We hit up a local thrift shop for our four outfits (totaling a whopping $30 for the wardrobe and accessories.) Two evenings of shooting (after long days of work,) LOTS of laughs, and some photoshop magic are what made this photoshoot truly meaningful and timeless – at least for us. We hope you enjoy these photos as much as we do!
