Weird ‘Bean Beards’ are a Japanese fashion trend parody

You know what are cool? Beans.

Since 2007, artist Takao Sakai has been sarcastically pushing for a new fad in Japanese fashion culture – azuki bean beards. The strange “Azurer Project” parodies the wild fashion trends common in Japanese culture by creating and encouraging this bizarre accessory.

Listen beautiful relax classics on our Youtube channel.

Since the inception of the project Sakai has amassed a collection of hundreds of photos of people wearing bean beards. If you want to be one of the early adopters of this sure-fire fashion trend you can find the beards at the New City Art Fair in New York City, which runs March 6 to 9, 2014.
