NYC-based artist Jordan Griska used a wrecked, non-functional model of a Mercedes Benz S550 to create this fantastic sculpture that reflects on its surroundings.
Appropriately titled, “Wreck,” the piece is composed of nearly 12,000 individual parts, and explores themes of luxury and mortality. Griska was inspired by Andy Worhol Warhol’s car crash prints during research. Philadelphia Contemporary explains in a statement, “The sculpture mirrors the peak of today’s automobile industry by using digital technology and meticulous handcraft to subvert both utopian dreams and reality.”
