After nearly a month, the 2018 World Cup has come to a close. Each game leading up to France’s victory over Croatia in the final has had its share of excitement. However, what has happened off the field has been just as interesting, including statement-making soccer jerseys, footage of considerate fans, and a fantastic collection of World Cup illustrations.
Artists have been sharing their soccer-inspired work on social media since the tournament started in June. Much like the styles they’re rendered in, the subject matter explored in each piece varies. Portraits of artists’ favorite famous players, depictions of dedicated spectators, and scenes rich with symbolism appear to be the most popular themes this year.
On top of traditional posters and prints, some designers have opted to animate their work, culminating in eye-catching videos that capture the energetic spirit of the quadrennial event. No matter the format, however, each illustrated work of art showcases the many ways that this year’s World Cup has inspired creatives from all over the world.
Here’s a collection of the best art inspired by the World Cup 2018.
