25 Unique Chairs for the New Café at Copenhagen Contemporary

If you enjoy interior design that involves the frequent changing up of furniture, you’re going to want to learn more about this project for Copenhagen Contemporary’s new Connie-Connie café. The space itself was created by Studio Tableau in collaboration with Australian designer Ari Prasetya, but the seating was made by 25 Danish and international artists and designers. For the initiative, they were each asked to design a wood chair or bench for Connie-Connie to show the possibilities of creativity for the piece of furniture. No two pieces are alike – from a LEGO-like chair to a bench inspired by the shape of an I-beam. All of the furniture in the café was brought to life using off cut wood from the brand Dinesen, and is for sale.

Copenhagen Contemporary is the country’s international art center showcasing performances, installations, and video art by contemporary artists. It’s located in what used to be the industrial welding building of B&W in the Refshaleøen neighborhood. Connie-Connie’s offerings will include sardines, tuna, and squid, as well as plant-based options and a big selection of natural wines. All the more reason to visit!
