Kevin Weir spends his time scouring the Library of Congress online archive for perfect images for his creepy animated GIF art. The oddly slow speed, black and white image and horror themes make his work incredibly unsettling.
Weir enjoys working with “unknowable places and persons,” perhaps as a way to more convincingly create new fantasy narratives. He explains that he began “making black and white GIFs as a way to occupy myself during the downtime of an internship I had during grad school.” Now his “downtime” hobby is Internet famous.
