6 sensitive redesigns of the traditional chopstick

Reimagining something simple is as hard a task as they come in the design world and there is not a more reductive eating utensil than the chopstick. The Japanese design studio Nendo worked closely with a traditional producer of chopsticks to introduce six subtle but distinct variations on the historic utensil. The design variations range from practical, to modern, to pop, to historic, each one displaying an unmatched attention to craft.

One fun designed chopstick features a colored star at the top. The outline of the star-shape travels down the length of the stick for an interesting look and functional grip. Another clever design features a set of minimal black sticks that form card-suite symbols in the negative space when placed next to each other.
