8 black and white photographs of morphed realities

Brazilian photographer Luciana Urtiga is not afraid to use technology to express herself. In a series of black and white self-portraits, she alters, edits and duplicates images to create a reality that is confined only by the limits of her imagination.

Her digital manipulations reference mirrors with consecutive duplicated faces nested within each other. The theme of the disappearing face is repeated in several other pieces including one called ‘Back to Sky’ where the clouds overtake the artist’s gaze. Select pieces include animation to offer an added element to the vision of the artist’s self-image.
