A Handsome Aluminum and Ultem Smartphone Case

Objects favored by the EDC crowd tend to be monomaterial. But this Adapt iPhone 14 Pro Max case incorporates both aluminum and Ultem, the high-strength plastic we last saw in CountyComm’s products.

Designed and manufactured by EDC purveyor Dango Products, the Adapt’s CNC-milled aluminum body is offered in anodized black, anodized silver, or an eye-catching Cerakote finish. (“Cerakote” is the name brand of a thin-film ceramic coating used primarily by the automotive industry.)

The way the case opens is novel: There’s a knurled steel thumbscrew at the corner that can be removed by hand, no tool needed.

Two loopholes provide attachment points for keyrings or lanyards. An Allen key is included, for the hex-head screws that hold the rest of the case together.

These run $120, and the company says they’re in “high demand.”
