A Handsomely Designey Rolling Side Table/Bar Cart

This eye-catching Basso, which at first glance appears to be a side table, is by industrial designer Manuel Amaral Netto.

Made of sheet steel, it features cork inlays for both the top and the interior of the bucket-like bottom.

Looking at the underside reveals casters.

Basso was in fact intended as a bar cart, with the bottom meant to house bottles. The cork inlays—which speak to Netto’s Portugese roots—are there to catch any errant dribbles and to prevent glassware from sliding around when the unit is rolled.

Intended function aside, Basso also makes for a handsome rollable side table. The channel created by the column is also a handy place to run a charging cable.

Basso comes in a variety of powder-coated finishes, as well as a stark galvanized option.

It’s in production by Util, a Lisbon-based design brand formed by Netto and business partner Tomás Carvalhas.
