The Nobu Hotel London Portman Square is a minimal boutique hotel located in London, United Kingdom, designed by David Collins Studio in conjunction with Make Architects. The hotel pays homage to traditional Japanese design by celebrating the art of craftsmanship, featuring a Nobu Restaurant, bar, outdoor terrace, and a 600-person ballroom.
David Collins Studio, who were responsible for the hotel’s common spaces, engaged in extensive research into Japanese panelling and patterns. Natural materials and ordered architectural frameworks create a uniform flow throughout, mixing a palette of warm and natural tones. Central to the main lobby is a hand-blown glass chandelier set at the center of the dramatic high ceilings.
Rooms and suites, designed by Make Architects, echo the aesthetic seen throughout the main spaces, implementing bespoke lighting and intricate joinery. Natural materials once again create a space of calm and repose, primarily influenced by Japanese minimalist aesthetics complemented by bold artistic expression.
