Joseph Kosuth emerged as an artist in the 1960s as a conceptual artist, known for creating pieces using neon. He considered these “a form of public writing without fine art associations”. In these pieces, he used references to psychology, philosophy and literature.
Until December 19, the Sean Kelly Gallery in New York is displaying a series of his works called “Agnosia, an Illuminated Ontology.” In the collection is more than 40 works, from 1965 to present. According to the gallery, the exhibit “will employ areas never before activated for exhibition purposes, creating an all-encompassing and profound experience for the viewer.”
