California-based artist Merry Coor has been creating gorgeous glass beads for about 15 years, but only recently discovered a completely new dimension of her work. Now, she creates beautiful bead designs, incorporating the cremated remains of diseased loved ones as one-of-a-kind memorials for their family and friends.
“Last year, a young couple asked me if I could incorporate some of the ashes from a dear friend, lost too soon, into a bead as keepsake,” explains Coor in her website. “The experience was amazing for me. As I made this special glass bead, I meditated, pondered, and let my mind free.”
