Azio's Izo Line of Chunky, Deconstructed Keyboards

These Izo wireless keyboards and number pads have a deconstructed aesthetic. Chunky keycaps sit atop exposed mechanical switches (if you have a shedding keyboard cat, this one’s not for you), and manufacturer Azio says the laser-etched keycaps will never fade, no matter how heavy a typist you are.

Despite the gaudy gold accents, I find the tactile appeal high.

The number pad, which has its own screen, can actually function as a standalone calculator.

The knob at top right is actually a dual knob, with the inner portion controlling volume, while the outer ring controls the keyboard’s backlighting.

There’s also an accompanying wireless mouse, but gosh that gold is a bit much—it looks like it belongs to a low-end cosmetics brand whose mission is to make tweens feel like adults.

CMF missteps aside, I do appreciate what the company is trying to do in terms of form: “Every corner, line, and edge,” they write, “follows a unified curved form designed to be visually soothing and soft to the touch.”

The keyboard runs $140, the number pad is $70 and the mouse is $50.
