‘Moonassi’ is a series by Daehyun Kim, a Seoul-based artist whose black-and-white illustrations offer a meditative, dreamlike reflection on the human self. Started as a project in university, ‘Moonassi’ went on to become an on-going lifetime series for the Korean illustrator/graphic designer. Drawing inspiration from traditional East Asian paintings, each of his drawings possesses a uniformly featuring black-clad boys interacting with each other and their surreal surroundings.
“I draw to meditate on myself and others, and to be able to see the whole story of the series in the end,” Kim said. See more of Moonassi’s oriental-style drawings at his website.
