Blake Lively extended an apology for a recent social media post about Photoshop fails amid the revelation of Kate Middleton’s cancer diagnosis.
The 36-year-old actress wrote an apologetic message on her Instagram Stories on Friday after her initial post, which seemed to be her participation in the humor aimed at Kate Middleton’s photo-editing revelations.

“I’m sure no one cares today but I feel like I have to acknowledge this. I made a silly post around the ‘Photoshop fails’ frenzy, and oh man, that post has me mortified today. I’m sorry. Sending love and well wishes to all, always,” Blake wrote in her apology note.

In her initial post, Blake shared a campaign for her sparkling mixer brand, Betty Buzz. The campaign appeared to be a play off the controversy surrounding 42-year-old Kate Middleton’s Mother’s Day photo that was later confirmed to be edited.
“I’m so excited to share this new photo I just took today to announce our 4 new @bettybuzz & @bettybooze products! Now you know why I’ve been MIA,” Blake captioned the carousel of promotional photos for her sparkling mixer brand.
In the first picture in the series, Blake was pictured in a deliberately badly Photoshopped image, holding a drink from her beverage brand. While lounging next to a pool, Blake smiled while a disproportionate lemon fell from the sky above her. Her right hand was also made to seem like the victim of bad Photoshopping, as her thumb appeared abnormally large. The chair, meanwhile, was a whole problem on its own.

The Gossip Girl alum’s post appeared to be poking fun at the controversy around the Mother’s Day photo released by the Princess of Wales with her three children, Prince George, 10, Princess Charlotte, 8, and Prince Louis, 5.
What initially seemed like a sweet Mother’s Day photo sparked widespread conversation after photo agencies withdrew the picture for alleged manipulation shortly after it was released.
Eagle-eyed observers noticed several unnatural elements within the image and identified about 16 editing errors, which included Princess Charlotte’s hair abruptly ending as if sliced off. Prince Louis’s finger appeared unnaturally severed, and Princess Kate’s hair looked suspiciously airbrushed, in addition to other glaring mistakes. The discrepancies in the photograph fueled debates and discussions about the authenticity of the family’s holiday snapshot.

Kate eventually admitted that the photograph was edited and apologized.
“Like many amateur photographers, I do occasionally experiment with editing. I wanted to express my apologies for any confusion the family photograph we shared yesterday caused,” the Princess of Wales said.
Blake’s “Photoshop fail” post came as part of the jokes around Kate’s editing controversy.
People had mixed feelings about the apology.
“Blake wasn’t the only one to make snide comments but she at least admitted she was wrong and apologized. Goes to show you should never pass judgment on others when you don’t know what they are going through,” said one comment on Facebook.

Days after the buzz around the photo-editing phenomenon, Kate announced on March 22 that she was diagnosed with cancer.
The Princess of Wales released a video message on Friday and revealed that she underwent abdominal surgery in January.
“It has been an incredibly tough couple of months for our entire family, but I’ve had a fantastic medical team who have taken great care of me, for which I’m so grateful,” the princess said.
While it was initially believed her condition was non-cancerous, tests eventually “found cancer had been present,” she said. The announcement came after months of speculation about her health and her noticeable absence from the public.

“In January, I underwent major abdominal surgery in London, and at the time, it was thought that my condition was non-cancerous,” Kate said.
“The surgery was successful. However, tests after the operation found cancer had been present. My medical team, therefore, advised that I should undergo a course of preventative chemotherapy, and I am now in the early stages of that treatment.”
The princess admitted that the cancer diagnosis was a “huge shock.”
“William and I have been doing everything we can to process and manage this privately for the sake of our young family,” she added.
Kate started chemotherapy in late February, and the Prince and Princess of Wales chose Friday to reveal the cancer diagnosis to the public because it was the same day Easter school holidays began for their three children, a royal source told CNN.
“It has taken me time to recover from major surgery in order to start my treatment. But, most importantly, it has taken us time to explain everything to George, Charlotte, and Louis in a way that is appropriate for them and to reassure them that I am going to be OK,” Kate continued.

Following the public announcement, King Charles said through a Buckingham Palace spokesperson that he is “so proud” of his daughter-in-law for “her courage in speaking as she did.”
She and Charles have been receiving treatment at the same London hospital, allowing the latter to stay in “the closest contact” with her, the spokesperson said.
He and his wife, Queen Camilla, will “continue to offer their love and support to the whole family through this difficult time,” the statement added.
It is unclear what type of cancer Kate was diagnosed with.
“We will not be sharing any further private medical information. The Princess has a right to medical privacy, as we all do,” a Kensington Palace spokesperson said about her diagnosis.
