I’m something of a photography buff. As a matter of fact, at some point it’s how I made my living. So when I saw these photographs by artist Takashi Kitajima I just had to know how he did it.
The “Boka.” It’s the technical term for the beautiful smeary circles created when a light is out of focus… In case you were wondering, because they’re all over the place in these photos. Kitajima uses a custom-built tilt shift lens to achieve this look, joining macro photography and telephoto images. Many of his photos were taken in Tokyo, but there are also views of New York City. Photography is all about perception and I’m digging this view. Enjoy.
