Buy a Firmship Land Rover Defender, Receive a Matching Aera P-1 Titanium Watch

The Nautical crafter Firmship’s primary focus is designing modern, but unassuming seafaring vessels – ships sailing upon the calm waters of quiet luxury, outfitted with tasteful accoutrements that include bespoke furnishings, upholstery, and even stained glass panels. They’re the sort of yachts Succession tech upstart Lukas Matsson might include in his fleet. The shipbuilder is also big on collaborations, recently working with British automaker, Land Rover, alongside Job Smeets from Studio Job to fashion an all-white lacquered SUV quite unlike any other Land Rover to date. Every one of the twenty-five FS Defenders also comes with an additional surprise: a complementary special edition titanium watch.

Adorned with a metal lacquer finish on the outside – the same durable surface treatment used on bulldozers and metal public telephone boxes – and adorned within with an all-gray suede interior embodying the brand’s ethos of neutrality, versatility, timelessness, and a general air of calm, the ‘Firmshipped’ Land Rover Defender edition is the definition of “under the radar” design.

The highly scratch-resistant domed crystal glass is sculpted ergonomically with the curve of the pebble-shaped casing, adding more attention to the watch’s three-hand display.

Like the FS Land Rover Defender, the matching special edition Firmship Aera P-1 Titanium timepiece embodies an understated modernity, characterized by its subtle curvature and matte gray finish. The choice of including a mahogany leather strap is in reference to the wooden decking of the Firmship 55 work ship, while the battleship gray rubber strap is inspired by the monochrome simplicity of the Firmship Defender’s interior cabin.

Every special edition Firmship model is case-back etched with the collaboration and features its own unique serial number.

Firmship was founded by Casper Vissers, the former co-founder of Dutch furniture and lighting brand Moooi, a venture he began with designer Marcel Wanders back in 2001 before stepping down in 2014. While Moooi’s catalog is characterized by an air of whimsy, Firmship aspirations openly court the hopes of creating objects revered as iconic, taking on a more no-frills neutrality as its guise of lasting luxury.

“An object should preferably be an icon, or become one,” says Vissers.
