Double exposure effect overlays animals and their environments

Norwegian visual artist Andreas Lie combines animals with their environments for a spiritual-feeling series of drawings. The forest emerges from the bear’s fur and mountains from the fox’s back in a peaceful comment about how one cannot exist without the other. Seeing these combinations leads me wonder what image we would overlay on the modern human, maybe a city or factory. It is a reminder of how we need to change as a culture to protect the environment, with these animals as inspiration.

Lie is based in Bergen, Norway, a coastal city surrounded by seven mountains and an obvious place of inspiration for the artist. You can buy many of his prints and other objects on Society6.
