“East Meets West” illustrates cultural differences

Designer Yang Liu has released a new book called East Meets West where her simple pictograms illustrate some of the binary cultural differences and social customs. In the book we see diagrams of the different approaches to such things as networking, the elderly, transportation, problem solving, and leisure time.

Liu moved from Beijing to Berlin when she was just a teenager, and that experience was a culture shock that she is still navigating. Using the red to represent the east and blue to represent the west, the black and white graphics boldly explain some of the variances that she has learned.
