Eerie figures stare into space between meditation and depression

Daisy Youngblood is an artist working in ceramic and bronze who makes powerfully spiritual sculptures. Her current solo exhibition at McKee Gallery, ‘Daisy Youngblood: Ten Years 2006–2015,’ showcases her most recent figures and animals.

Youngblood prefers a lightly worked surface, sensitive and meditative and often incorporates found materials like found wood or stones. She fires the work to a low temperature and encourages subtle colors and variations. There are grim undertones to the work though, the figures eerily stare into space appearing somewhere between meditative and depressed.
